In some circles it seems controversial to treat expectant mothers. Let us assure you it is completely safe to treat women during pregnancy and often a little treatment yields great results.
Many things change in the spine with the combination of increased weight, forward weight carriage, altered spinal curves, relaxation of the ligaments and, fluid retention. However back pain should not be a feature of pregnancy and gentle treatment is very effective.
Some mothers claim that having the spine and pelvis balanced with treatment enables an easier passage for the birth of the baby. Many new mothers also receive treatment soon after delivery of the baby as the pelvis is obviously pulled about somewhat. Delivery can be traumatic on the baby too especially with difficult labors, inducements, forceps and the like. Gentle treatment on the newborn can correct any tension areas or ‘misalignments’ which can potentially cause more trouble later on.
